A new ring for Julie’s 22nd wedding anniversary. The stone of the year is Spinel, nice and hard 8 on the Mohs scale, usually red colour but comes in a variety, so went for blue. Looked around on Pinterest for some interesting designs and came up with this open spiral look.
Decided to create it in gold and was shocked at the price of the metal, feels like it’s doubled since I made the last gold ring a few years ago.
I created bezel settings for both 5mm stones and made small seat rings to sit inside the bezel to hold the stones level and stop them dropping too low. Only had silver solder, so had to file all the excess off to stop it showing.
The ring worked out really well in the end, has a nice feel and fits well (easily adjustable 😁)
