My first experiment with long exposure star trails photography. Pointing north towards the centre of the earths spin. these beautiful images really bring home the fact that we live on a rotating rock in space.
After seeing these types of images online I decided to try and capture one myself and so began a long journey of discovery. After reading numerous articles on techniques I came across the one which described using a great bit of software CHDK which added a load more functionality to my Cannon G10 camera. It took several cold nights of trying different settings and leaving the camera out all night snapping away. A long exposure time of around 30 seconds seemed to work best, then set the camera to keep taking photos until the battery ran out. The resulting hundreds of photos were then composited together into a single image using [insert software]
